Buy Commercial Freeze Dryer coisas para saber antes de comprar

While the initial cost might seem steep, keep in mind the long-term savings and the value of preserved food. It’s an investment in self-sufficiency and food storage security. You can read my full cost analysis of the Harvest Right freeze dryer here.

The size of the freeze dryer you decide to buy is where cost analysis comes in handy. Different sizes of freeze dryers have different payback periods, and their costs and variable operating expenses vary.

The large home freeze dryers can weigh more than 160 pounds. That is a lot of weight to move around. Which is another reason many people keep them on carts, even if they have lots of room in their homes.

The versatility and personal control can’t be captured in break-even charts, so keep that in consideration.

So, the answer depends on what you are trying to do. My opinion is that dehydrators are better for snacks- like jerky and dried fruit, whereas freeze-dryers are better for pretty much any long-term food storage. Both are pretty good at making candy as well.

The Harvest Right freeze is an obvious fit for gardeners, homesteaders, and preppers. But here are some other people who might benefit from owning a freeze dryer:

During dehydration, the dehydrator circulates hot dry air over the food. As a result, the water in the food evaporates and food items like raisins take on their characteristic shriveled look. In the end about 80% of the moisture is removed.

It is wonderful to freeze dry food that we have prepared. Drying the food ourselves is significantly less expensive than what we would have to pay to buy such food elsewhere. We are in control of the ingredients and are able to prepare long-term food storage that meets our needs.
